Frozen: A Box Office Milestone but What was your favorite scene?

Video

Is it awkward that for the last few weeks the only song that comes to my head is.. “do you want to build a snowman?” Definitely not! Not when you laugh at a little girls quite persistent nature, when she peeks under the door to make you go out and play and definitely not when she’s trying to make her invitation pass a small keyhole. Also because when an animated movie claims rank and earns billion on box office, you’ll know it’s more than your typical cartoon movie.

Theaters in the US went frenzy at the released of Disney’s 3D animated movie Frozen this year. Not long after, it claimed one of the highest grossing animated films in history earning over a billion-dollar, a little over the one that Toy Story 3 claimed in 2010.

Frozen a top grossing animated film gained 398.4 million dollars in the US and 674 million dollars internationally totaling a huge 1.072 billion dollars in earnings, a little past Toy Story 3 earning 1.063 billion dollars in 2010. Its international release record gave Disney / Pixar their biggest profit on animated films in record history.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

Standard

The photo challenge was well… indeed a challenge on my part as I didn’t have anything – not in my camera or cellphone that fell under the category. However, my insistent nature scanned through a bit more just to see if maybe.. just maybe I’ll find a photo that may somehow fit in and so here it goes… Inside.. the fridge 😀

Baby Massage

Standard

Don’t you just love babies and their teeny tiny chubby bodies? Over the years, I have experienced cuddling babies from all walks of life and really, you cannot possibly compare the sweet feeling of having them sleep under your care. How much more for moms who stays beside them all the time? Who experience first hand the baby’s tricks and tantrums? But did you know there’s another way to increase the connection between you and baby? Massaging your baby helps build the bond between the two of you. It also serves as a security on the part of the baby knowing your touch will protect her. A mother’s touch is known to heal and that developing an attachment between you and the baby through baby massage is a good way to start it.

IMG_0359[1]How to massage a baby:

Undress the baby and lay her down in a comfortable bedding. Play with her for a bit to help her relax.

Make sure that the room temperature is not cold for the baby. Leave a warm covering for the baby if it’s colder than intended.

Apply baby oil on both your hands and rub them together to make it warm and gently massage your baby from head, shoulders, stomach, legs and finally the feet.

If the baby wants to turn while being massaged, let her turn around. Do not force her to stay on one position just so you can finish massaging her.

Benefits of baby massage:

It improves the baby’s skin texture: By carefully massaging the baby’s body with baby oil, you’re not only moisturizing it but you’re helping her develop a good skin texture.

It improves her digestive system

It strengthens their immune system and prevents respiratory illness.

It helps calm the baby with less tantrums and irritability.

This marked the beginning of my summer :D

Standard

Saturday is normally treated as a regular workday, that’s at least on my part – that being said I normally get up at 4:30 in the morning and prepare for work. At times, and when it’s really bad, I tend to stay in bed and see who will give up first – me or the snooze button. On this particular Saturday however, I succumbed to the warm, comfy feel of early morning blanket so.. I stayed in late and didn’t get up until around 9 am. I went downstairs and this pretty much greeted my morning.. ahhh SUMMER! what I’d do to be in the water this summer!

Travelling to Batanes?

Standard

Batanes I think is one of the most sought vacation spots here in the Philippines. Apart from the fact that it has weathered centuries of fierce typhoons while maintaining and preserving its historical reputation, the province of Batanes has been featured so many times on TV prompting viewers to ponder whether they should head on to Batanes on their next vacation or not. So to help you more on your decision making, here are some tips that will help you ease the jitters of flying to Batanes.

Tips and Cheapskates for those who are on a budget:

  • As of posting, there are two airlines that cater flights to Batanes. PALExpress and SkyJet airlines.  You can check their websites here for rates and promos.  flypalexpress.com & skyjetair.com
  • If you’re in for some hot and nice weather, the best time to visit Batanes is from April – May. Although summer can be felt as early as March and as far as June, the province is also known for its bad weather which may occur June onwards.
  • Unlike before and with two airlines catering flights to Batanes now, you can search online for promos as low as P4,000 roundtrip. Compared to previous price of 7,000++ one way, you may want to wait a while or book early for you to land that sweet, glorious promo.
  • Board and lodging is not a problem in Batanes. As tourism expands, so is the construction of more bed and breakfast inns at an affordable price which I only not assume but learned that there are more than enough to cater tourists coming to Batanes.
  • You can tour Batan Island in one day.
  • If you want to really experience Batanes, give yourself at least 5 days to stay there. However, the typical 3 day period will pretty much cover everything.
  • If you’re on a budget trip, you can ask a friend from Batanes if they can accommodate you for the duration of your stay there, if you’re not much of the hotel type person, it wouldn’t be hard to entertain you and your friends. (Make sure to spend on your food though)
  • Unless you’re spending your vacation there on December, April and May is the peak of summer so you may want to bring shorts and sandals, cotton shirt and a cap. No need for bulky clothing – it’s nice to travel light. Bring lots of sunblock and a thin long sleeve shirt if you’re afraid of getting sun burnt.
  • Travel with your friends to get group discount on your accommodation.
  • Generally speaking, people in Batanes are friendly so if you’re new there and you can’t seem to find your way through, THEY WILL HELP YOU THROUGH 🙂

10 things you need to stop telling yourself

Standard

True to life lies..

  • I’ll start my diet tomorrow. Don’t say it, just do it! Your inner self is ready to put up a fight with you for letting her hopes up and putting her down the moment you reach your fridge at home. It’s so not fair. She won’t mind, but how about not opening it every single time?
  • I’ll start saving on my next paycheck. Who are you kidding? Next paycheck you’ll wound up thinking where did all your money go? Piece of advice, on your next paycheck, why not buy that little black dress, or that pretty shoes that you’ve been visiting every payday. At least you can tell yourself.. oh well at least I have my little black dress in the closet and THAT’s where my money went.
  • You’re fat. No you’re not. As long as you are confident about yourself, you know your limits and you work hard to take care of yourself then you’re FINE.. not FAT. FAT is when you’re Forever Attached to Tortilla.
  • I’ll start jogging this weekend. If you have a strong relationship with your bed, I suggest you start by walking when you shop at the grocery store or the wet market, after you successfully do that for 4 consecutive weeks, (nope, not yet time to start jogging) how about obeying your alarm clock and get up the FIRST TIME it rings!
  • You need a makeover so your ex will regret leaving you. Chances are rare. You guys didn’t break up because you’re ugly. So if you’re giving yourself a transformation, make sure your doing it for yourself and not because you feel the need to make your ex jealous of what your achieved when you guys broke up.
  • I’m leaving this company; I should be running my own now. You’ve heard yourself say that, say a couple of thousand times before. If you’re not going to start something while you still have your monthly salary, chances of success rate is lower when you decide to start it without backups, soaring to the unknown.
  • I have no savings right now, look at my salary. So you’re saying that all those savings account at your local banks belong to people who have 6 figure salaries? I don’t think so.
  • No one will love him / her more than I do. He left because he found someone better, or that he believes there’s someone better. So, STOP fooling yourself. It’s just not right.
  • What other people say matters. Yes they do, but they also tend to bring you down 90% of the time. So keep the positive ones and forget those that aren’t helping. I remember someone say “mind your own business and you’ll set most of your problems down”. Or something like that J
  • I used to be skinny. Well, now you’re not, so stop. But you can start hitting the gym and slowly release your super power of dieting. There I said it. DIET. EAT PROPERLY.
